Sviluppo di un processo di studio delle modalità di viaggio dei semi e delle strategie che le piante adottano per viaggiare e riprodursi.

Presentazione:

“Sono rimasta affascinata dalla portata dell’incrocio di conoscenze e informazioni che la vita crea per poter andare avanti.

Nel caso di Leopoldina e di Raddi la passione naturalistica unita alle necessità lavorative e amorose hanno creato delle traiettorie inedite mettendo in comunicazione profonda due mondi, e l’hanno fatto studiando e trasportando piante e sapere.

I vegetali si riproducono attraverso i propri semi, che rappresentano l’insieme delle informazioni per la loro specie: sono tutto quello che sanno.

Questi semi cercano e trovano il modo di esprimersi trasformandosi in piante e, per trovare le migliori condizioni possibili, spesso affrontano dei viaggi, sia nel tempo che nello spazio.

I processi di disseminazione sono molto vari e prevedono sia la possibilità del viaggio autonomo che l’interazione con altre specie. I semi possono viaggiare col vento, possono essere proiettati a distanza per un gioco di tensione dei tessuti nel frutto stesso o per effetto della gravità, possono sviluppare sporgenze adatte a rimanere impigliati su animali ospiti e posso viaggiare nel tempo grazie alla loro scarsità d’acqua che permette di attendere il momento propizio a volte anche a lungo. Affascinata da tutti questi strumenti di relazione e conoscenza sto lavorando a sculture che tentano di individuare gli agganci e le tecniche di conservazione/comunicazione, alcune piante si forniscono di interessanti pelucchi per difendersi dal freddo o dal caldo estremo o semplicemente per essere attraenti per animali, come gli uccelli che possono spostarli per costruire nuovi nidi”.

Development of a process of study of the travel arrangements of the seeds and the strategies that the plants adopt to travel and reproduce itself.

The project starts as part of the collective process within Everythings I know of Maria Grazia Pontorno, curated by Elena Giulia Abbiatici and Silvana Vassallo.

Presentation:

“I was fascinated by the range of knowledge and information that life creates in order to move forward.

In the case of Leopoldina and Raddi, naturalistic passion combined with work and love needs have created unpublished trajectories, putting two worlds in deep communication, and they did it by studying and transporting plants and knowledge.

Plants reproduce through their seeds, which represent the whole information for their species: they are all they know.

These seeds seek and find the way to express themselves by transforming themselves into plants and, to find the best possible conditions, often face journeys, both in time and space.

The dissemination processes are very varied and include both the possibility of autonomous travel and interaction with other species. The seeds can travel with the wind, can be projected at distance for a game of tension of the tissues in the fruit itself or due to gravity, they can develop protrusions suitable to get caught on host animals and I can travel in time thanks to their lack of water that allows you to wait for the right moment sometimes even for a long time. Fascinated by all these tools of relationship and knowledge I am working on sculptures that try to identify the hooks and the conservation techniques /

communication, some plants provide interesting fluff to defend themselves from cold or extreme heat or simply to be attractive to animals, like birds that can move them to build new nests “.
